Iow@Work is currently taking applications for eligible youth age 16-24 to work this summer at various public and non profit work sites for up to 8 weeks between June 8 through July 31, 2009.  Jobs pay $7.25 an hour for up to 40 hours a week.  A variety of indoor and outside entry level jobs are being developed in Scott, Clinton, Jackson and Muscatine Counties. group

Eligibility requirements will apply. Applicants must be an Iowa resident, a US citizen or someone with the right to work, and "low income" based on the past 6 months family income. If you are an 18 year old male you must be registered with selective service. Priority will go to eligible Veterans.

Please carefully read and follow the application process and complete steps one and two below.

1. Register as a job seeker at www.iowajobs.org. Assistance is available in the Resource Room of any Iow@Work or Iowa Workforce Development office.

2. Complete the Iow@Work Summer application.  There is a link below.  The last page of the application is a Number In Family Form that you will need to complete, but it will need to be signed by a non-family member.

The application links below contain one in Word 2007 format and one in PDF format. You can use either. You can print a form, fill it out, and either hand deliver it or mail it to your local county office.

THEN, call your nearest Iow@Work location between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM to schedule an appointment time.skateboarder

Click on the link to your county office in the upper left hand corner of this page. Your county page will have the address and phone number you will need to call for an appointment.

You will need to bring your completed Application, Number In Family form, Social Security Card, Drivers License or state ID and proof of your family income (if you have it), with you to your scheduled appointment.

After your eligibility has been determined, you will be able to view the approved public jobs and may be referred for an interview. The employer will decide who to hire. There are a limited number of jobs and there is no guarantee that you will be referred or hired.
