On-The-Job
Training for
Current
Employees
An
employer can
be reimbursed
for 1/2
of a
current employee's
wage to
train him/her
if the
training
relates to the
introduction
of new
technologies,
the
introduction
to a new
production or
service
procedure, an
upgrade to a
new job that
requires
additional
skills, and
workplace
literacy when
the employee
is not
currently
earning a
self-sufficient
wage.
Customized
Training
The
purpose of
Customized
Training is to
provide
training
specific to an
employer's
need for
potential or
current
employees.
It is normally
provided in a
classroom
setting and
designed
specifically
to meet the
employer or
group of
employers
specific
needs.
The employer
must commit to
hire the
potential
employee or
retain the
current
employee after
successful
completion of
the training;
and the
employer must
pay a minimum
of 50% of the
cost of the
training.
